Ideal Dental Care, which was honoured at the Blackpool Gazette’s Best of Health Awards earlier this year, has scooped two more prestigious gongs.

It won both awards it was nominated for at the Dentistry Awards 2011 which were held in Leicester earlier this month. It picked up the award for Best Team in the North West and Dental Hygiene Therapist Andrea Shipton was crowned Best Dental Care Professional in the North West.

The awards come on the back of Peter Thompson picking up Dentist of the Year.

Peter, who founded the business more than 20 years ago, is delighted that his team has been singled out for such high praise – especially as the two recent awards were judged by the great and the good from the UK dental profession.

“Being recognised by your peers for having such a fantastic team which is made up of very talented individuals is wonderful,” said Peter.

“We try very hard to ensure our practice is friendly, welcoming and offers very high levels of care and treatment and to have this recognised makes me very proud.

“The team are fantastic and rightly deserve the plaudits. Andrea Shipton is also a worthy winner as she is a great example of someone who has bags of potential and is rising through the ranks with us.”

Andrea, from Thornton, joined the practice as a dental nurse in 2000 after finishing her A levels and graduated from University of Liverpool in 2010 with a Combined Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy.

“I was utterly gobsmacked when my name was called out at the awards,” said Andrea. “And then it was a double celebration when the team picked up their award.

“My award is such a prestigious accolade and I’m delighted for all my patients as they put forward some wonderful testimonials which clearly impressed the judges.”

Ideal Dental Care is holding off putting up the awards on show as it is saving them to be proudly displayed in the pub that it is converting into its new HQ. The former Fleetwood Arms is expected to open in February 2012.
